Cafè + Pizzeria Frankfurt

In a shop along the quiet streets of a village in Frankfurt: an old man works alone in a cafe pizzeria, serving up heavenly pasta dishes, coffees and pizzas. Andrey, Azri, Chloe and I were there on a busy afternoon, sharing a Quattro Formaggi (4-cheeses pizza), tagliatelle, potato ravioli and the works. The old man does all the cooking, pan-frying, searing, and barista-ing. He thoughtfully makes sure everybody at any table is served together. He also makes the effort for small-talk with all customers. At the peak lunch hour, a lone helper goes into the kitchen to help him. At that point in time we ordered 4 plates of tiramisu. The freshly-baked goodness was in short the best tiramisu I’ve ever had in my life.

Too many apt photo-taking backgrounds in this place; there were even ladies in Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty dresses and a group who were having an engagement party in the ballroom.

Foodporn: Risotto

My first day in Venice, I had the best seafood risotto of my life20130912-060235.jpg
These got me so hooked to the garlicky/vinegar-oil flavorings that the Italians used…

Brought these instant risotto packets from Milan, and because jet lag was still robbing me of proper night-time sleep, I woke up hungry and made supper at 5am!

Mom was being an insomniac as well and we shared pumpkin risotto 🙂 yummy! Just 12minutes in the pot, hot water, and another 3 minutes to steam and let the flavour sink in…20130912-060639.jpg

162. urban picnic

Introducing, the best things that happened to me in the University:enqikrisjoyceyz

Gardens by the Bay is really pretty!
Just less so in the hot sun and erratic weather, thus we consumed the picnic goodies beside the ticketing booth like a boss.
I need to go there again in the night with the lights up!

What we learnt that day: Kris makes really good pasta & egg mayo!
And I take really bad polaroids.

And then the urbanites retreated to the comfort of air-conditioning in town.

Life’s good (:
