[PARIS] oo4.PONT DES ARTS LOVELOCK BRIDGE

“But Paris was a very old city and we were young and nothing was simple there,
not even poverty, nor sudden money,
nor the moonlight, nor right and wrong
nor the breathing of someone who lay beside you in the moonlight.”
― Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast: The Restored Edition

So we found two very different bridges padded with lovelocks of all shapes and sizes – symbols of timeless promises and devotion to one’s significant other-halves. The first one, Vedettes du Pont Neuf, was tucked away in a corner along La Seine (so if you walked down Notre-Dame to the Louvre you’ll see it on your right-hand side). Unlike the more popular lovelock bridge at Pont des Arts, this one hasn’t collapsed.

Who could resist not taking selfies in Paris? Couples wishing to locate a spot for their locks will find a better chance at this place, and the view of La Seine is equally if not more breathtaking (sans the human congestion and men touting tourists to pay for souvenirs or a well-taken photograph).

Oh what a face only a célibataire on a bridge of love would make.

Onwards to the legitimate lovelock bridge – the Pont des Arts overlooking Pont Neuf at the Louvre Museum! The sheer number of locks amazed me, it’s really no wonder parts of the bridge have collapsed from the weight. Each day hundreds of new locks are added to the walls along the bridge, and seldom have any been unlocked or removed until the recent collapse. Many locks date back to the ’90s! Lovelock bridges are always a sight to behold – the greater significance of the locks far outweighs its physical presence on the bridge. So much hope for the future goes into each, of which the keys are deliberately lost. There’s no question why Pont des Arts remains an important icon in the City of Love.

Hello Kitty Cafe | 헬로키티카페 홍대점

Two years ago I was wildly excited to come into Hello Kitty Cafe in Hongdae. Two years later, I’m mildly amused by how ugly their kitty-shaped waffles have become. The insanely pink stand-alone building is still a popular tourist attraction (cue an aggressive horde of multi-lingual Kitty fanatics), and always will remain a novelty this part of town! I just love coming in and remembering how excited I was to be here.

Chocolateria San Churro, Brisbane

20140311-201719.jpg

Got a major kick out of having churros in Brisbane! Finally satisfying my cravings for both dark chocolate and cinnamon churros and where better to have these? Australia’s most famous chocolateria!

Macarons, truffles, pralines, cakes, fudge bizcocho, smoothies, coffees in all sizes, flavours and shapes. Take your pick. Now that I’m hungry, can I stay in Brisbane, please?

이 카페는 마카롱, 케이크, 초콜릿, 커피의 다양한 맛을 판매하고 있습니다. 여기를 음식을 날 배가된다. 여기에 내가 살 수 있을까?

That, my friends, has got to be the best churros I’ve ever had. Also, I loved its teak wood tables and straight-backed chairs. Perfectly conducive place for studying or a quick catch-up with friends.

지금까지먹었던 최고의 츄 로스 로… 이것은 또한 대단히 잘 설계된 카페이다. 확실히본 카페에서 공부할 것. 친구를 충족하기 위해본 카페에 돌아 오는 생각 해.

My Pink Leopard Manicure

2014 Bucket list item #24:
Get manicured in pretty pink leopard prints – check!

Read Nora Roberts’ old classics at Spinelli’s while waiting to have dinner with Annabelle. Spinelli’s is so underrated in comparison to the coffee chain monopolies Starbucks and Coffee Bean. Perhaps I’m just sick of Starbucks at the moment – I used to drink it everyday but now I avoid them like plague! Spinelli’s Rumberry Twist has cranberry pieces blended into a yummy mix of espresso, rum and vanilla, and it really agrees with my tastebuds. Pretty soon I would have tried all of Spinelli’s beverages! Which is hands down, way more appetizing and creative than Starbucks’.

London Lovin’: Patisserie Valerie

Tucked away in the streets of Notthing Hill is a Patisserie Valerie –
great wifi connectivity, comfy sofas, and mad awesome latte with cake!
 photo DSCN4140_zps03466ea3.jpg

As it is now late-summer, London is all overcast skies and occasional light drizzles, which is perfect for a hot cuppa.

Nothing makes me gladder than to see a spacious cafè with an inviting storefront.

Due to jetlag I was up pretty early and was one of their first dine-in customers of the day. Plus I was trolling Notting Hill for Waterstones, Daunt Books and Book Warehouse!! Walking meant that I needed caffeine.

 photo DSCN4122_zpsc45c0508.jpg

Not only do they have pastries, cookies and a myriad of cakes, their all-day breakfast/brunch and specialty sandwiches menu is also to-die-for.

Between devouring my cake and sipping on latte, WiFi and Patisserie Valerie’s in-store selection of magazines kept me occupied for a good 2 hours. Had this prolonged bubbly seventh-heaven satisfaction that I always feel after a pleasant cafè experience.

London Lovin’: Ladurée

London Lovin’ – Parisian sweet treats in the heart of Britain!

Did you know…Ladurée was the first pâtisserie to color the macaroons, and sandwich them together with ganache or buttercream filling!!
How can anyone resist these pastel wheels of happiness?

Beside macaroons, Ladurée’s extensive dessert menu offers a dizzying myriad of treats that will make you go wild.

At Ladurée, Covent Garden, you get to bask in the sun and soak in some heat as the winter months gradual move in.
Can you believe it was 6 °C when we touched down in London yesterday morning?
DSCN3870

Embedded in the Covent Garden shopping district, surrounded by a tourists’ market, chain of food joints and restaurants as well as pubs and bars, it’s really convenient to pop by for a sugared quickie.

And a quick look at its interior:

Brisbane, King George Square

Someday I’d wish to be a true backpacker in Brisbane;
just my haversack & laptop for a couple of weeks.
Too many amazing streets to stroll along, colors and sights to see,
vintage buildings to admire, and entertaining buskers to applaud.
Liberal-minded people to talk to and be impressed by.
Talents abound and magic to be discovered.

Pictorial Walk-through…of BRISBANE!!

Firstly I was out gallivanting alone right after a much-needed sleep.

“22 is basically the only age you can use as leverage.
Meaning that because it’s the exact age between life-as-you-know-it and what will later be known as ‘real life’ (that’s scientifically proven, of course),
people expect you to make some mistakes.
Mistakes like overcooking a pot-roast or dating someone who may not be right for you. And that’s okay, because heck, you’re just 22.”
