[SYDNEY] AUSTRALIA’S BEST-LOVED GELATO

I’ve finally tried Messina, voted the best gelato in Australia by the Good Food Guide!

Our double-scoop picks:
Salted Caramel and White Chocolate: salted caramel gelato with white chocolate chip, and
Tiramisu: egg, marsala and mascarpone gelato with lady finger biscuits soaked in espresso coffee
True to form, the combination tastes much better than it looks i.e. heavenly and as sinful as salted caramel may sound, its worth every damn calorie I will need to burn after scarfing this gelato cup down!20140719-203421-74061765.jpg

This one’s located at The Star, a short walk to and from Darling Harbour, Sydney CBD, Chinatown etc.

I’m tempted to try everything on display but there’s not enough room  in my tummy after a seafood platter, sashimi and sushi from Sydney Fish Market. This must be a third-world problem – going to a foreign land, only to encounter so much good food in so little time. And then we complain of not having gastronomical variety in our own country. Dolce Tokyo, SG

Had the worst Matcha Latte in my entire life at Dolce Tokyo, 313 Somerset, this evening. Beautiful place, but terrible matcha latte – such a disappointment and shame to claim its affiliation to Tokyo! The drink was so diluted and watered down that the matcha powder wasn’t fully dissolved, so it tasted so much like grainy water that has been scattered match powder. The matcha gelato was not too bad though. Definitely far from the matcha lattes I’ve had in Japan. I’m officially so pampered by this lifestyle, I have to admit. Nonetheless the matcha was so unacceptable. Eurgh.

오늘 저녁에 내 인생 전체에서 최악의 녹차 라떼를 마셨다.  그렇게 끔찍한 맛. 세계를 여행에서 응 석 이야. 어떤 습관을 난 개발을 방지해야합니다. 하지만 돌체 도쿄의 끔찍 했어요.

Reading a very beautiful book written by a Taiwanese travel journalist whose books I’ve come to love. I will talk more about this book when I’m in the mood to!

Amidst the London rush hour, the lost tourist a.k.a Viktoria Jean was trying to get to the ice-cream store just across the street on South Kensington. At 6pm in the evening, walking against the crowd is no easy feat. Everybody seems to be dashing somewhere, moving fast ahead with their lives, going with the incessant flow. Meanwhile, the lost tourist stops for a Stracciatella gelato.

Travel-diary: Asians in Munich

Touched down on the third largest city in Germany, the host city of the 1972 Summer Olympics, with the cutest city motto: München mag dich, which literally means Munich loves you.

On the first day, we had lunch at Dachau Station, KZ-Gedenkstätte,
in which our Döner (kebab) came in colossal proportions!

Heading back into the town center of Marienplatz is easy when you’ve got a Captain who’s very familiar with the topography.

This is the Rathaus-Glockenspiel in the heart of Marienplatz.

Every day without fail at 11 a.m. (12 p.m. and 5 p.m. in summer) it chimes and re-enacts stories from the 16th century to crowds of tourists and locals.

Each story lasts 12-15 minutes, and at least 500 people were gathered in the square to watch the spectacle with us.
